Now, Professor Petr Slav\u00ed\u010dek and his bachelor\u2019s student Jakub Dubsk\u00fd from UCT Prague (University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague) have described in detail one of the key mechanisms for the creation of these slow electrons in water, a process known as Intermolecular Coulombic Decay (ICD). Their powerful mathematical model successfully explains all the data from complex laser experiments conducted at ETH Zurich (Hans-Jakob Woerner team).<\/p>\n<p>The work, which deepens the fundamental understanding of radiation chemistry, has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41467-025-61912-w\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a> in the journal Nature Communications.<\/p>\n<p>A detailed knowledge of the processes in <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/aqueous+solutions\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">aqueous solutions<\/a>, combined with advances in research technologies using high-energy radiation, is transforming the field of radiation chemistry.
