They revealed the collisional signatures and dynamical mechanisms of filamentary structures in this region. The results are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aanda.org\/10.1051\/0004-6361\/202553851\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a> in Astronomy &amp; Astrophysics.<\/p>\n<p>Star formation is one of the key processes that drive the evolution of galaxies and the <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/interstellar+medium\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">interstellar medium<\/a>. Recent observations and <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/theoretical+studies\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">theoretical studies<\/a> suggest that interactions and collisions between large-scale filamentary structures may play an important role in triggering high-mass <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/star+formation\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">star formation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In this study, the researchers identified two giant filaments, designated F1 and F2, in the G34 region.
