Glioblastoma is the most common type of brain cancer, with a five-year survival rate of just 15%.<\/p>\n<p>The researchers, from the University of Cambridge, found that <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/cancer+cells\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">cancer cells<\/a> rely on the flexibility of <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/hyaluronic+acid\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">hyaluronic acid<\/a> (HA)\u2014a sugar-like polymer that makes up much of the brain\u2019s supporting structure\u2014to latch onto receptors on the surface of cancer cells to trigger their spread throughout the brain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scientists have found a way to stop brain cancer cells spreading by essentially \u2018freezing\u2019 a key molecule in the brain.
