The study, recently <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/10.1177\/03010066251350245\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a> in the journal <i>Perception<\/i>, showed that most people, regardless of their visual orientation \u2014 or line of sight \u2014 will consistently overestimate its steepness.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis Shaffer, lead author of the study and a professor of psychology at The Ohio State University\u2019s Mansfield campus, said his team\u2019s research aimed to understand why this may be, as well as how manipulating a person\u2019s gaze might result in notable differences in their perception.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>People\u2019s perceptions of the world are easily impacted by the angle at which they view objects in it, suggests a new study.
