The new technology could improve early detection and management of hypertension.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHypertension affects nearly half of all adults in the US and is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease,\u201d said Ariane Garrett, a doctoral student in Darren Roblyer\u2019s lab at Boston University. \u201cThis research is a step toward a <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/wearable+device\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">wearable device<\/a> that would let people monitor their <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/blood+pressure\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">blood pressure<\/a> any time, without a cuff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>SCOS is a noninvasive imaging technique that measures <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/blood+flow\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">blood flow<\/a> by analyzing speckle patterns formed by coherent light scattering from cells and tissue.
