{"id":21320,"date":"2016-01-29T09:46:56","date_gmt":"2016-01-29T17:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2016\/01\/many-healthcare-organizations-not-preparing-for-precision-medicine"},"modified":"2017-06-04T11:02:19","modified_gmt":"2017-06-04T18:02:19","slug":"many-healthcare-organizations-not-preparing-for-precision-medicine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2016\/01\/many-healthcare-organizations-not-preparing-for-precision-medicine","title":{"rendered":"Many healthcare organizations not preparing for precision medicine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/many-healthcare-organizations-not-preparing-for-precision-medicine.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>59% of the providers surveyed recently state that they have no intentions of offering precision treatment such as CRISPR for the next 5 yrs. which means patients with MS, Dystonia, Cancer, etc. will not necessarily get proper choice of treatments that they deserve.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>As the Obama administration looks to Congress to fund its $215 million Precision Medicine Initiative, a new poll of healthcare executives indicates that most hospitals and health systems are not planning on leveraging such advances in genomics and data analytics to personalize patient care.<\/p>\n<p>In the poll, conducted by analytics vendor Health Catalyst, 59 percent of respondents indicated that precision medicine will not play a significant role in their organizations over the next five years.<\/p>\n<p>Non-academic hospitals and health systems are less likely to expect near-term participation in precision medicine.
