They speculate that this primal ability may have played a role in assuring the survival of human society at times when making a sound could have attracted predators.<\/p>\n<p>The research is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s44271-024-00137-x\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a> in the journal Communications Psychology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHumans have a long history of living in complex groups and <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/social+situations\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">social situations<\/a>. It has been theorized that this has led our brains to develop a heightened ability to focus on social cues from faces, and especially from eyes,\u201d said Jelena Ristic, a professor in McGill\u2019s psychology department.
