{"id":210313,"date":"2025-04-01T13:21:10","date_gmt":"2025-04-01T18:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2025\/04\/healing-chronic-wounds-three-times-faster-with-electricity"},"modified":"2025-04-01T13:21:10","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T18:21:10","slug":"healing-chronic-wounds-three-times-faster-with-electricity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog\/2025\/04\/healing-chronic-wounds-three-times-faster-with-electricity","title":{"rendered":"Healing chronic wounds three times faster with electricity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/healing-chronic-wounds-three-times-faster-with-electricity.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Researchers from both Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, and the University of Freiburg, Germany, have been<a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.rsc.org\/en\/content\/articlelanding\/2023\/LC\/D2LC01045C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> collaborating on a project to help those who suffer from chronic wounds heal faster<\/a> than ever before and therefore negate the possibility of amputation in severe cases.<\/p>\n<p>Commonly a small wound does not lead to any serious complications; however, for those with diabetes, spinal injuries or poor blood circulation, a small wound means a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openaccessgovernment.org\/article\/cutaneous-chronic-wounds-worldwide-silent-epidemic\/156591\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">greater risk of infection and chronic wounds<\/a> \u2013 which in the long run can lead to much more serious consequences such as amputation.<\/p>\n<p>Maria Asplund, Associate Professor of Bioelectronics at Chalmers University of Technology and head of research on the project explained that \u201cChronic wounds are a huge societal problem that we don\u2019t hear a lot about.
