As the number of developed robots continuously grows, being able to easily learn about these many systems, their unique characteristics, differences and performance on specific tasks could prove highly valuable.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers at Technical University of Munich (TUM) recently created the \u201cTree of Robots,\u201d a new encyclopedia that could make learning about existing <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/robotic+systems\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">robotic systems<\/a> and comparing them significantly easier. Their robot encyclopedia, introduced in a paper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s42256-025-00995-y\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a> in <i>Nature Machine Intelligence<\/i>, categorizes robots based on their performance fitness on various tasks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe aspiration for <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/intelligent+robots\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">intelligent robots<\/a> that can understand their environment as we humans do, and execute tasks independently, has existed for ages,\u201d Robin Jeanne Kirschner, first author of the paper, told Tech Xplore.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past decades, roboticists have introduced a wide range of systems with distinct body structures and varying capabilities.
