Redshift is the change in the frequency of <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/light\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">light<\/a> waves that a galaxy emits, which <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/astronomers\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">astronomers<\/a> use to gauge a galaxy\u2019s speed.<\/p>\n<p>Shamir\u2019s findings lend support to the century-old \u201ctired light\u201d theory instead of the Big Bang.
