The funding comes two years after the company closed its previous round at a reported valuation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-01-31\/dodo-bird-dna-has-startup-valued-at-1-billion-to-bring-back-extinct-species\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$1.5 billion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Why did investors pour so much capital at an eye-popping valuation for a company that has yet to generate any revenue and whose flagship projects, resurrecting an extinct mammoth and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nma.gov.au\/defining-moments\/resources\/extinction-of-thylacine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Tasmanian tiger<\/a>, are not expected to be completed until 2028?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe investor base has been very impressed with the speed at which we\u2019ve created new technologies,\u201d Ben Lamm, Colossal Biosciences\u2019 co-founder and CEO, told TechCrunch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Awesome that Colossal is doing so well \u2014 and this is from before they announced their wooly mice accomplishment!
