Their paper is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41586-025-08616-9\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a> in the journal <i>Nature<\/i>. The editors at <i>Nature<\/i> have published a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/d41586-025-00637-8\" target=\"_blank\">Research Briefing<\/a> in the same issue summarizing the work.<\/p>\n<p>Supersolids are entities that exist only in the quantum world, and, up until now, they have all been made using <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/atoms\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">atoms<\/a>. Prior research has shown that they have zero viscosity and are formed in crystal-like structures similar to the way atoms are arranged in salt crystals.<\/p>\n<p>Because of their nature, supersolids have been created in extremely cold environments where the <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/quantum+effects\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">quantum effects<\/a> can be seen.
