They published the result in Nature Electronics.<\/p>\n<p>Designing an electronic component usually requires extensive manual design and simulation to achieve a desired functionality. Inverse design eliminates these steps. It is a two-step process: First, the developers divide a design area into an array of smaller, programmable elements. Then, they deploy iterative feedback-loop optimization to tune these elements to achieve a predefined functionality.<\/p>\n<p>This new device manipulates <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrum.ieee.org\/move-over-spintronics-here-comes-magnonics-to-the-rescue-of-electronics\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\"> magnons<\/a>,<strong><\/strong> the quasiparticle quanta of magnetic <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrum.ieee.org\/tag\/spin-waves\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">spin waves<\/a>. There have been <a href=\"https:\/\/ieeexplore.ieee.org\/document\/9706176\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">magnonic devices<\/a> and inverse-design devices, but this is the first <em>universal<\/em> magnonic inverse design device.
