Nothing special about that\u2014other than the fact said engine was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/centers\/marshall\/news\/news\/releases\/2015\/piece-by-piece-nasa-team-moves-closer-to-building-a-3-D-printed-rocket-engine.html\">75 percent 3D printed parts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As industrial 3D printing has moved from prototyping to actually manufacturing finished products, the aerospace industry has become an avid early adopter. Although in many industries mass production techniques still make economic sense\u2014for the ultra-precise, almost bespoke parts in rockets? 3D printing is a great fit.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, GE showed off a scaled down <a href=\"http:\/\/singularityhub.com\/2015\/05\/15\/watch-ges-3d-printed-jet-engine-fire-at-33000-rpm\/\">3D printed jet engine firing at 33,000 RPM<\/a>. SpaceX\u2019s recent recovery of a Falcon 9 rocket was not only spectacular, but the rocket has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spacex.com\/news\/2014\/07\/31\/spacex-launches-3d-printed-part-space-creates-printed-engine-chamber-crewed\">long used 3D printed parts too<\/a>.
