Don\u2019t let its alien-sounding name frighten you. <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/15181400\/\">Xenon gas<\/a> is commonly used as a medical aesthetic.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/doi\/10.1126\/scitranslmed.adk3690\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">researchers found<\/a> that mice suffering from Alzheimer\u2019s-like conditions saw reduced brain inflammation and a slowing of brain atrophy after inhaling xenon gas.<\/p>\n<p>One of the biggest signs that xenon gas might actually be doing some good is that they even saw a reduction in amyloid plaque in the brain. These are deposits of proteins called beta-amyloids in the brain that are a hallmark of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vice.com\/en\/article\/welcome-to-town-square-where-the-past-is-present\/\">Alzheimer\u2019s disease<\/a>.
