(Enjoy that scratch-resistant coating on your glasses? Well, it began life <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spacefoundation.org\/programs\/space-technology-hall-fame\/inducted-technologies\/scratch-resistant-lenses\" target=\"_blank\">as an \u201880s-era spacecraft water filtration<\/a> system.) What some people miss is that it\u2019s still happening today.<\/p>\n<p>Every year, NASA puts out what it calls a \u201cspinoff report.\u201d No, this is not a list of ideas for a series of zany, roommate comedies set aboard the ISS. (Although this is an excellent idea. Call me, NASA TV!)
