Lloyd Huck Endowed Chair in Microbiome <i>Science<\/i>s.<\/p>\n<p>Bordenstein and 21 other scientists from around the world published a paper in <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1126\/science.ado2152\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Science<\/i><\/a>, summarizing research that they said drives a deeper understanding of biological variation by uniting life\u2019s seen and unseen realms.<\/p>\n<p>The authors explained that this newly described concept\u2014holobiont <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/biology\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">biology <\/a>\u2014underpins a multidisciplinary and holistic understanding of how life\u2019s forms and functions, from human disease to <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/agricultural+output\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">agricultural output<\/a>, depend upon the relationships between microorganisms and their hosts.
