The amount of time individuals spent standing and sitting was matched with incidences of cardiovascular diseases \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Coronary_artery_disease\">coronary heart disease<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Heart_failure\">heart failure<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stroke\">stroke<\/a> \u2013 as well as circulatory diseases \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hypotension#Orthostatic_hypotension\">low blood pressure on standing<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Varicose_veins\">varicose veins<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chronic_venous_insufficiency\">chronic venous insufficiency<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Venous_ulcer\">venous ulcers<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In recent years, standing has been touted as a remedy to a sedentary lifestyle, especially for desk workers who spend long hours seated at their screens.
