In one of their most famous songs, they sing about \u201cpickin\u2019 up good vibrations\u201d from a girl. We\u2019ve all felt those \u201cgood vibes\u201d when we\u2019re connecting with someone new. I used to think that feeling was a mysterious, mystical experience \u2014 something I couldn\u2019t fully explain that bonded me with some friends and strangers more easily than others.<\/p>\n<p>It turns out that \u201cgood vibes\u201d aren\u2019t as mysterious as I thought.<\/p>\n<p>Pioneering neuroscientists have begun investigating how the brain works when we are <i>interact <\/i>ing with others \u2014 a technique they call <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3389\/fnhum.2020.00039\" target=\"_blank\">hyperscanning<\/a>.
