McFall also has lived experience with a disability as he has used prosthetics regularly since the amputation of his right leg at age 19, following a motorcycle accident. (He even won a bronze medal in the 2008 Paralympics in the 100-meter sprint, class T42.) <\/p>\n<p>A recent study dubbed \u201cFly!\u201d \u2014 in which McFall played a key role \u2014 found there would be <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spaceflight-inclusion-parastronaut-health-care-study\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/spaceflight-inclusion-parastronaut-health-care-study\">no major issues<\/a> to <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16748-international-space-station.html\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/16748-international-space-station.html\">International Space Station<\/a> missions should an astronaut use a prosthesis on board. There is more work to be done, but the goal is for it all to culminate in flying \u201csomeone with a physical disability\u201d to the ISS, McFall told <a href=\"http:\/\/Space.com\">Space.com<\/a> in an exclusive interview on Aug. 8. \u201cBy the end of this decade, hopefully that would have happened.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Astronaut John McFall hopes to see an ISS astronaut with a disability fly by 2030 \u2014 video.
