In other words, is it possible that Schr\u00f6dinger\u2019s \u201ctotal mind\u201d is a kind of quantum reserve downloaded and differentially phased into qualia through the materialist medium of natural selection, which Edelman calls \u201cneural Darwinism\u201d? Is it the embodied human sensory organs interacting with their environment in feedback loops that unveils the unformed wave of fundamental consciousness through the particle of particular experience?<\/p>\n<p>The correct answer is: Who knows?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho Knows?\u201d would be an apt title for the best inventory to date of the myriad views on consciousness, from the metaphysical to the materialist, compiled by Robert Lawrence Kuhn and titled \u201cA landscape of consciousness: toward a taxonomy of explanations and implications,\u201d recently <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.pbiomolbio.2023.12.003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"external noopener noreferrer\">published<\/a> in the journal \u201cProgress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the risk of sounding a bit woo-woo, as any speculation about the \u201chard problem\u201d of the unknowns of consciousness does, can\u2019t both be true?
