The process, called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.american.edu\/sis\/centers\/carbon-removal\/fact-sheet-ocean-alkalinization.cfm\">ocean alkalinity enhancement<\/a> or OAE, should temporarily increase that patch of water\u2019s ability to absorb carbon dioxide from the air.
