Shirley Meng\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/lescmeng.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\">Laboratory for Energy Storage and Conversion<\/a> has created the world\u2019s first anode-free sodium solid-state battery.<\/p>\n<p>With this research, the LESC \u2013 a collaboration between the UChicago Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering and the <a href=\"https:\/\/ne.ucsd.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">University of California San Diego\u2019s Aiiso Yufeng Li Family Department of Chemical and Nano Engineering<\/a> \u2013 has brought the reality of inexpensive, fast-charging, high-capacity batteries for electric vehicles and grid storage closer than ever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough there have been previous sodium, solid-state, and anode-free batteries, no one has been able to successfully combine these three ideas until now,\u201d said UC San Diego PhD candidate Grayson Deysher, first author of a new paper outlining the team\u2019s work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>UChicago Pritzker Molecular Engineering Prof. Y.
