Now, companies are exploring ways to replace the existing computer-generated voice models with synthetic versions of human voices. Truecaller, the widely known caller ID service, is the latest to take this approach with its announcement that it will now allow customers to use its AI-powered Assistant to answer phone calls in their <em>own<\/em> voice.<\/p>\n<p>The new experience comes via a partnership with Microsoft that allows the Swedish company to use the Redmond giant\u2019s Personal Voice technology, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/11\/15\/microsoft-launches-a-deepfakes-creator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">introduced<\/a> in November as part of Azure AI Speech.<\/p>\n<p>By using Microsoft\u2019s Personal Voice, Truecaller\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/community.truecaller.com\/forums\/topic\/659-truecaller-partners-with-microsoft-to-bring-personal-voice-to-ai-assistant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Assistant<\/a>, available to paid users, will be able to replicate users\u2019 voices in order to greet and respond to callers.
