It\u2019s such a great loss.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Daniel Dennett, professor emeritus of philosophy at Tufts University, well-known for his work in philosophy of mind and a wide range of other philosophical areas, has died.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/as.tufts.edu\/philosophy\/people\/faculty\/daniel-dennett\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Professor Dennett<\/a> wrote extensively about issues related to philosophy of mind and cognitive science, especially <a href=\"https:\/\/plato.stanford.edu\/entries\/consciousness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">consciousness<\/a>. He is also recognized as having made significant contributions to the concept of <a href=\"https:\/\/plato.stanford.edu\/entries\/intentionality\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">intentionality<\/a> and debates on free will. Some of Professor Dennett\u2019s books include <em>Content and Consciousness<\/em> (1969), <em>Brainstorms: Philosophical Essays on Mind and <\/em>Psychology (1981), <em>The Intentional <\/em>Stance (1987), <em>Consciousness Explained <\/em>(1992), <em>Darwin\u2019s Dangerous Idea<\/em> (1995), <em>Breaking the Spell<\/em> (2006), and <em>From Bacteria to Bach and Back: The Evolution of Minds<\/em> (2017).
