Their latest paper, <a href=\"https:\/\/link.aps.org\/doi\/10.1103\/PhysRevLett.132.106602\" target=\"_blank\">published<\/a> in <i>Physical Review Letters<\/i>, outlines the unique characteristics of monolayer V<sub>2<\/sub>MX<sub>4<\/sub>, which could belong to a new family of quantum anomalous Hall insulators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinding intrinsic quantum anomalous Hall materials is an important goal in topological material research,\u201d Jing Wang, co-author of the paper, told Phys.org. \u201cAfter <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.aps.org\/prl\/abstract\/10.1103\/PhysRevLett.122.206401\" target=\"_blank\">we predicted MnBi<sub>2<\/sub>Te<sub>4<\/sub><\/a>, a paradigm example of magnetic topological <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/insulator\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">insulator<\/a> and exhibiting quantum anomalous Hall effect in odd layer, we have been thinking about finding new intrinsic quantum anomalous Hall insulator with large gap.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Large-gap quantum anomalous Hall insulator materials exhibit a quantum anomalous Hall effect with a relatively large energy gap between the valence and <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/conduction+band\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">conduction band<\/a>.
