Clocks may have to skip a second \u2014 called a \u201cnegative leap second\u201d \u2014 around 2029, a new study in the journal Nature said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an unprecedented situation and a big deal,\u201d said study lead author Duncan Agnew, a geophysicist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. \u201cIt\u2019s not a huge change in the Earth\u2019s rotation that\u2019s going to lead to some catastrophe or anything, but it is something notable.
