With it comes the promise of deciphering many longstanding secrets of the cell.<\/p>\n<p>A research team at the Max-Planck-Zentrum fu\u0308r Physik und Medizin, Erlangen led by Professor Vahid Sandoghdar has now successfully shown how <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/small+molecules\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">small molecules<\/a> and single nanoparticles can be applied directly onto the surface of cells.<\/p>\n<p>In the study, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41592-024-02177-x\">published<\/a> in <i>Nature Methods<\/i>, the scientists describe their technique as a \u201c\u03bckiss\u201d (microkiss)\u2014an easy and cost-effective new method, unlocking new possibilities in single-cell science with a view to-wards next generation therapeutic applications.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The delivery of experimental materials to individual cells with exactness and exclusivity has long been an elusive and much sought-after ability in biology.
