Most notably, film directors can now shoot scenes from a wide range of angles that were previously inaccessible and in far higher resolution.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers at University of Zaragoza and Stanford University recently developed CineMPC, a new cinematographic system that relies on a fully autonomous drone that carries a cinematographic <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/camera\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">camera<\/a> to film multiple targets autonomously, while following a director\u2019s instructions. The platform modulates various drone and camera parameters to satisfy these instructions. The team\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/ieeexplore.ieee.org\/document\/10398502\">innovative system<\/a>, outlined in <i>IEEE Transactions on Robotics<\/i>, could bring a wave of innovation to the <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/film+industry\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">film industry<\/a> and other sectors that can benefit from high-quality video footage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExisting solutions for autonomous drone cinematography revealed a common oversight, namely, none provided <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/automatic+control\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">automatic control<\/a> over camera intrinsic parameters (i.e., <a href=\"https:\/\/techxplore.com\/tags\/focal+length\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">focal length<\/a>, aperture, focus distance),\u201d Pablo Pueyo Ramon, co-author of the paper, told Tech Xplore.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recent technological advances, such as increasingly sophisticated drones and cameras, have opened exciting new possibilities for cinematography.
