They\u2019re describing this finding as the \u201cmissing link\u201d in the evolution of life as we know it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can now trace the origins of water in our Solar System to before the formation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/studyfinds.org\/jaw-dropping-pictures-the-sun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sun<\/a>,\u201d says lead author Dr. John Tobin of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.<\/p>\n<p>The international team discovered gaseous water in a substantial planet-forming disc around the star <strong>V883 Orionis<\/strong>. This star, located in the <a href=\"https:\/\/studyfinds.org\/best-telescopes-for-beginners-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Orion constellation<\/a> in the southwestern sky, was studied using the ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter\/submillimeter Array) telescope in Chile. Upon examination, researchers found that the disc contained at least 1,200 times the quantity of water found in all of Earth\u2019s oceans. This discovery could potentially aid researchers in <a href=\"https:\/\/studyfinds.org\/liquid-water-habitable-planets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">identifying planets<\/a> or moons that are most likely to harbor <a href=\"https:\/\/studyfinds.org\/how-do-we-talk-to-aliens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">extraterrestrial life<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SANTIAGO, Chile \u2014 Astronomers have traced the source of Earth\u2019s oceans, rivers, and lakes back to a stellar nursery located 1,300 light years away.
