The technique could help make biofuels and other products in a sustainable way.<\/p>\n<p>Plants are famous for their ability to convert carbon dioxide from the air into chemical energy to fuel their growth. With <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/environment\/atmospheric-co2-50-percent-higher-pre-industrial-levels\/\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">way too much CO2<\/a> in the atmosphere already and <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/environment\/atmospheric-co2-pandemic-record-concentrations\/\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">more being blasted out<\/a> every day, it\u2019s no wonder scientists are turning to this <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/biology\/directed-evolution-bacteria-eat-co2\/\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">natural process<\/a> to help rein levels back in, while <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/artificial-photosynthesis-creates-biofuel\/37160\/\" data-cms-ai=\"0\">producing fuels<\/a> and other useful molecules on the side.<\/p>\n<p>In the new study, Max Planck scientists developed a brand new CO<sub>2<\/sub>-fixation pathway that works even better than nature\u2019s own tried-and-true method.
