The work has been <a href=\"https:\/\/pubs.acs.org\/doi\/10.1021\/acsnano.3c08534\">published<\/a> in the journal ACS Nano.<\/p>\n<p>This new method is based on the exsolution process activated by microwave radiation. Exsolution is a method of generating <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/metallic+nanoparticles\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">metallic nanoparticles<\/a> on the surface of ceramic materials. \u201cAt elevated temperatures and in a reducing atmosphere (usually hydrogen), metal atoms migrate from the structure of the material to its surface, forming <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/metal+nanoparticles\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">metal nanoparticles<\/a> anchored to the surface.
