Before <a data-testid=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/sam-altman-return-openai-ceo-2023-11-22\/\" referrerPolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" class=\"\">his triumphant return<\/a> late Tuesday, more than 700 employees had threatened to quit and join backer Microsoft <a data-testid=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/companies\/MSFT.O\" target=\"_blank\" referrerPolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" class=\"\">(MSFT.O)<\/a> in solidarity with their fired leader.<\/p>\n<p>The sources cited the letter as one factor among a longer list of grievances by the board that led to Altman\u2019s firing. Reuters was unable to review a copy of the letter.
