Due to their distinctive properties, these materials exhibit the highest superconducting temperatures reported to date under ambient pressure.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and other institutes in China recently carried out a study aimed at better understanding the processes underpinning the high superconducting critical temperatures (T<sub>c<\/sub>) observed in trilayer cuprates, a class of materials with three layers based on compounds containing copper. Their paper, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41567-023-02206-0\">published<\/a> in <i>Nature Physics<\/i>, unveiled the electronic origin of the high T<sub>c <\/sub>exhibited by these three-layered materials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur group has been trying to understand the high temperature superconductivity mechanism in <a href=\"https:\/\/phys.org\/tags\/cuprate+superconductors\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">cuprate superconductors<\/a> for many years,\u201d Xingjiang Zhou, one of the researchers who carried out the study, told Phys.org.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>High-temperature cuprate superconductors are a broad class of materials that exhibit some unique characteristics.
