Now it seems they have succeeded.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/tech\/ai\/google-commits-2-billion-in-funding-to-ai-startup-anthropic-db4d4c50\">Wall Street Journal<\/a>, the deal with Google is now in the bag: Two billion dollars will flow from Google to Anthropic over an unspecified period of time. Google will pay $500 million in cash immediately. This second investment follows Google\u2019s initial investment of approximately <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2023\/2\/3\/23584540\/google-anthropic-investment-300-million-openai-chatgpt-rival-claude\">$300 million in February 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Anthropic is currently rolling out its <a href=\"https:\/\/the-decoder.com\/chatgpt-alternative-openai-competitor-anthropics-claude-2-chatbot-is-live\/\">Claude 2 chatbot<\/a> on the web and as a programming interface through its own services and partners such as Amazon AWS and Google\u2019s cloud AI service Vertex AI. <a href=\"https:\/\/the-decoder.com\/chatgpt-competitor-claude-2-launches-in-more-countries\/\">Claude 2 is currently available in 95 countries<\/a>, but is not currently available in the EU, presumably for privacy reasons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anthropic, the AI startup known for its chatbot Claude, has been trying to land Google as a major investor after winning over Amazon.
