It could have been used for science!<\/p>\n<p>At least, that\u2019s what <a href=\"https:\/\/fayeyap.rice.edu\/#fnref-43-1\">Faye Yap<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/pi.rice.edu\/people\/\">Daniel Preston<\/a> think. Yap is a mechanical engineering PhD student in Preston\u2019s lab at Rice University, where she co-authored a paper on reanimating spider corpses to create grippers, or tiny machines used to pick up and put down delicate objects. Yap and Preston dubbed this use of biotic materials for robotic parts \u201cnecrobotics\u201d \u2013 and think this technique could one day become a cheap, green addition to the field.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>That spider you squished?
