This is shown in <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.3389\/fgene.2023.1181775\">a study<\/a> published in the journal <i>Frontiers in Genetics<\/i> by researchers at Ume\u00e5 University. In the long term, the results may open up new ways of treating cancer by limiting the tumor\u2019s interaction with the nerves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still only early in the research, but this opens up exciting opportunities to fight cancer in the body in a completely new way,\u201d says Sara Wilson, associate professor of neurobiology at the Department of Integrative Medical Biology at Ume\u00e5 University.<\/p>\n<p>In cancer, there is an interaction between tumors and nerves. You could say that the tumor talks to the <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/nervous+system\/\" rel=\"tag\" class=\"\">nervous system<\/a>.
