On Monday, X user Tyler Glaiel noticed that Google\u2019s answer to \u201ccan you melt eggs\u201d resulted in a \u201cyes,\u201d pulled from Quora\u2019s integrated \u201cChatGPT\u201d feature, which is based on an earlier version of OpenAI\u2019s language model that frequently confabulates information.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is actually hilarious,\u201d Glaiel wrote in a follow-up post. \u201cQuora SEO\u2019d themselves to the top of every search result, and is now serving chatGPT answers on their page, so that\u2019s propagating to the answers google gives.\u201d SEO refers to search engine optimization, which is the practice of tailoring a website\u2019s content so it will appear higher up in Google\u2019s search results.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When you type a question into Google Search, the site sometimes provides a quick answer called a Featured Snippet at the top of the results, pulled from websites it has indexed.
