Generative AI has come much more into mainstream awareness in recent months with the launch of <a href=\"https:\/\/cosmosmagazine.com\/technology\/ai-tool-chatgpt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ChatGPT<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cosmosmagazine.com\/weekly-edition\/dall-e-art-for-ais-sake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DALL-E<\/a> systems, which can understand written and verbal requests to generate convincingly human-like text and images.<\/p>\n<p>Artists have complained that generative AIs being trained on their work is tantamount to \u2018ripping off\u2019 their styles or creating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.technologyreview.com\/2022\/12\/12\/1064751\/the-viral-ai-avatar-app-lensa-undressed-me-without-my-consent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">discriminatory or explicit content<\/a> from harmless inputs.
