The ability to reliably control a qubit is an important achievement for realizing future functional quantum computers.<\/p>\n<p>The paper, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/article\/10.1088\/2058-9565\/ace6cb\/meta\">A guided light system for agile individual addressing of Ba<sup>+<\/sup> qubits with 10<sup>\u22124<\/sup> level intensity crosstalk<\/a>,\u201d was published in <i>Quantum Science and Technology.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>This new method, developed at the University of Waterloo\u2019s Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC), uses a small glass waveguide to separate laser beams and focus them four microns apart, about four-hundredths of the width of a single human hair.
