I think other futurists have said similar things though I\u2019m not familiar with all of them, I saw a talk by one for NASA.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>In efforts to tackle the leading cause of blindness in developed countries, researchers have recruited nanotechnology to help regrow retinal cells.<\/p>\n<p>Macular degeneration is a form of central vision loss, which has massive social, mobility, and mental consequences. It impacts <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.7759%2Fcureus.29583\">hundreds of millions<\/a> of people globally and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doi.org\/10.1136\/bjophthalmol-2020-315890\">increasing in prevalence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The degeneration is the consequence of damaged retinal pigment cells.
