Jeff Bezos-owned Blue Origin has announced plans to expand its operations to \u201cEurope and beyond,\u201d <a data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/886d8638-8f38-404f-882c-50e358c5509c\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm: context_link;cpos:1;pos:1;itc:0\">the <em>Financial Times<\/em> reports<\/a>. Part of this growth hinges on finding a site for an international launch facility \u2014 the company has already put down roots in Texas, Washington, Florida and Alabama \u2014 but the new location hasn\u2019t been chosen yet. It\u2019s also actively looking for fresh acquisitions and partnerships outside of the US in areas such as manufacturing and software.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re looking for anything we can do to acquire, to scale up to better serve our customers,\u201d Bob Smith, Blue Origin CEO, said. \u201cIt\u2019s not a function of size \u2014 rather how much it accelerates our road map of what we\u2019re trying to get done.\u201d Last year, <a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.honeybeerobotics.com\/news-events\/honeybee-robotics-to-join-blue-origin\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm: context_link;cpos:2;pos:1;itc:0\">Blue Origins bought New York-based Honeybee Robotics<\/a>, a move that appears successful: The space-based robotics company was part of the Blue Origin team that recently received <a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/nasa-picks-blue-origin-to-build-the-artemis-v-moon-landing-system-145503244.html\" data-ylk=\"elm: context_link;cpos:3;pos:1;itc:0\">$3.4 billion to build the lunar lander<\/a> for NASA\u2019s third Artemis mission. Blue Origin\u2019s biggest competitor, Elon Musk\u2019s SpaceX, is handling the <a data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/nasa-picks-blue-origin-to-build-the-artemis-v-moon-landing-system-145503244.html\" data-ylk=\"elm: context_link;cpos:4;pos:1;itc:0\">first and second Artemis moon landings<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Though Blue Origin was the first to launch, land and reuse a rocket successfully, it has fallen behind its rival due to hold-ups with building its launchers. Blue Origin\u2019s plans for a more global footprint might help them catch up with SpaceX\u2019s progress. Amazon\u2019s Project Kuiper also plans to use <a data-i13n=\"cpos:5;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/nasa-blue-origin-new-glenn-escapade-science-mission-mars-110049165.html\" data-ylk=\"elm: context_link;cpos:5;pos:1;itc:0\">Blue Origin\u2019s rocket New Glenn<\/a> for at least 12 launches between 2024 and 2029 after a few years of delays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The billionaire space race is continuing to expand across the globe.
