Everything we know \u2014 everything we see \u2014 is just 5% of everything in the Universe.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining 95% of the Universe is stuff that we can\u2019t see, don\u2019t yet understand. An extraordinarily vast portion of the cosmos is still unknown. Despite the technological advancements of the last century, even with computers at our fingertips and the worldwide internet and space-based observatories mapping the far reaches of our Universe, there is still so much that we don\u2019t understand.<\/p>\n<p>We have grown leaps and bounds since the days of the <a href=\"https:\/\/bigthink.com\/thinking\/thales-theorem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ancient Greeks<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.memphis.edu\/hypostyle\/meaning_function\/model-universe.php\">Egyptians<\/a>, even since Copernicus and Kepler.
