In a move to prevent any of its data from ending up with competitors, Apple has restricted internal use of tools like <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/18\/chatgpt-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-ai-powered-chatbot\/\">OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT<\/a> and Microsoft-owned <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/03\/22\/githubs-copilot-goes-beyond-code-completion-adds-a-chat-mode-and-more\/\">GitHub\u2019s Copilot<\/a>, a new report says.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/apple-restricts-use-of-chatgpt-joining-other-companies-wary-of-leaks-d44d7d34\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a>, Apple is worried about its confidential data ending up with developers who trained the models on user data. Notably, OpenAI launched <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/05\/18\/openai-launches-an-official-chatgpt-app-for-ios\/\">the official ChatGPT app on iOS<\/a> Thursday. Separately, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/markgurman\/status\/1659371522790928385\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted<\/a> that the chatbot has been on the list of restricted software at Apple for months.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p> I believe ChatGPT has been banned\/on the list of restricted software at Apple for months.
