In recent years neuroscientists have made major advances in cracking the code of memory, figuring out exactly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/science\/science-news\/total-recall-brain-process-memory-formation-revealed-n385826\">how the human brain stores information<\/a> and learning to reverse-engineer the process. Now they\u2019ve reached the stage where they\u2019re starting to put all of that theory into practice.<\/p>\n<p>Last month two research teams reported success at using electrical signals, carried into the brain via implanted wires, to <a href=\"http:\/\/iopscience.iop.org\/article\/10.1088\/1741-2552\/aaaed7\/meta\">boost memory in small groups of test patients<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s a major milestone in demonstrating the ability to restore memory function in humans,\u201d says Dr. Robert Hampson, a neuroscientist at Wake Forest School of Medicine and the leader of one of the teams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How far would you go to keep your mind from failing?
