Can artificial intelligence help mend some of the problems faced by hospitals and healthcare providers? There has been progress on that front \u2014 not fast enough, but progress nonetheless.<\/p>\n<p>While interest in healthcare AI is high, \u201cthe level of acculturation of C-level executives is lagging, especially for organizations that would need it the most \u2014 pharmas, medtechs and hospitals,\u201d a recent Capgemini <a href=\"https:\/\/www.capgemini.com\/insights\/research-library\/health-ai-now-and-next-2022-study\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.capgemini.com\/insights\/research-library\/health-ai-now-and-next-2022-study\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"report\">report<\/a> relates. The problem, the study\u2019s authors relate, is data. \u201cEnhancing the patient care pathway and improving care delivery remain on the top of the organizations\u2019 agendas,\u201d according to the report\u2019s team of coauthors, led by Charlotte Pierron-Perl\u00e8s. However, only about a third of healthcare organizations surveyed by Capgemini prioritize the availability of patient information. \u201cWe do not see major progress from 2021 [the year of the previous study].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The good news is that many healthcare providers are stepping up their AI work. \u201cThe healthcare industry is now starting to implement AI and machine learning solutions at increased scale and sophistication,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/tonyambrozie\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/tonyambrozie\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"Tony Ambrozie\">Tony Ambrozie<\/a>, CIO at <a href=\"https:\/\/baptisthealth.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/baptisthealth.net\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" aria-label=\"Baptist Health South Florida\">Baptist Health South Florida<\/a>. \u201cAI and machine learning will augment their ability to make sense of the vast amounts of data available.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spiraling costs, closed facilities, capacity issues, staff burnout, staff shortages, lots of chaos \u2014 sounds like an ailing industry \u2014 and that industry is healthcare.
