Scientists want to know why"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"aligncenter blog-photo\" href=\"https:\/\/lifeboat.com\/blog.images\/art-and-music-therapy-seem-to-help-with-brain-disorders-scientists-want-to-know-why2.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When Michael Schneider\u2019s anxiety and PTSD flare up, he reaches for the ukulele he keeps next to his computer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t actually play a song,\u201d says Schneider, who suffered two serious brain injuries during nearly 22 years in the Marines. \u201cBut I can play chords to take my stress level down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a technique Schneider learned through Creative Forces, an arts therapy initiative sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, in partnership with the departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>Arts therapies appear to ease brain disorders from Parkinson\u2019s to PTSD.
