Both of them are significantly larger than our own planet \u2014 and one of them may even be suitable for life.<\/p>\n<p>Super-Earths are a unique class of exoplanet in the solar system that are more massive than our planet but lighter than the ice giants, according to NASA. They are made by some combination of gas and rock and can get up to 10 times the size of Earth\u2019s mass.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.uliege.be\/cms\/c_16795199\/en\/speculoos-discovers-a-potentially-habitable-super-earth\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"> findings<\/a>, discovered with NASA\u2019s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite and the University of Li\u00e8ge\u2019s Search for Habitable Planets Eclipsing Ultra-Cool Stars (SPECULOOS), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aanda.org\/component\/article?access=doi&doi=10.1051\/0004-6361\/202244041\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"> will be published<\/a> in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An international team of scientists announced on Wednesday that they have discovered two new \u201csuper-Earth\u201d planets just 100 light-years away.
