The space station is also orbiting higher today to prepare for next month\u2019s Soyuz crew vehicle swap.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth crewed operational mission aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft has been given a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nasa.gov\/crew-5\/2022\/08\/25\/nasa-spacex-adjust-crew-5-launch-date\/\">launch date of Oct. 3<\/a> from Florida\u2019s Kennedy Space Center. The four SpaceX Crew-5 crewmates, Commander <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/astronauts\/biographies\/nicole-a-mann\">Nicole Mann<\/a>, Pilot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/astronauts\/biographies\/josh-a-cassada\">Josh Cassada<\/a>, and Mission Specialists <a href=\"https:\/\/iss.jaxa.jp\/en\/astro\/biographies\/wakata\/index.html\">Koichi Wakata<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gctc.ru\/main.php?id=1710\">Anna Kikina<\/a> will dock Dragon Endurance to the forward port on the station\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission_pages\/station\/structure\/elements\/harmony\">Harmony module<\/a> about 24 hours later.<\/p>\n<p>Several days after that, the four SpaceX Crew-4 astronauts will enter the Dragon Freedom crew ship and undock from Harmony\u2019s space-facing port for a parachute-assisted splashdown off the coast of Florida. Freedom Commander <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/astronauts\/biographies\/kjell-n-lindgren\/biography\">Kjell Lindgren<\/a>, Pilot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/astronauts\/biographies\/bob-hines\">Bob Hines<\/a>, with Mission Specialists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/astronauts\/biographies\/jessica-watkins\">Jessica Watkins<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/Science_Exploration\/Human_and_Robotic_Exploration\/Commanding_role_for_ESA_astronaut_Samantha_Cristoforetti\">Samantha Cristoforetti<\/a>, have been living and working on the orbital lab as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission_pages\/station\/expeditions\/expedition67\/index.html\">Expedition 67<\/a> Flight Engineers since <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.nasa.gov\/spacestation\/2022\/04\/27\/the-crew-4-astronauts-dock-to-the-space-station\/\">April 27<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NASA and SpaceX have announced the date for the upcoming Crew-5 launch to the International Space Station.
