A world champion jet skier several times over, his first invention was the <a href=\"https:\/\/newatlas.com\/zapata-flyboard-jet-pack-watersport-boots\/20772\/?itm_source=newatlas&itm_medium=article-body\">Flyboard<\/a>, a sort of jetpack\/hoverboard combo powered by gas turbines. Next came the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zapata.com\/en\/flyboard-air\/\">Flyboard Air<\/a>, a similar device powered by jet turbines. Three years ago Zapata <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-europe-49225001\">crossed the English Channel<\/a> on a Flyboard Air; the journey took just 22 minutes, with a stop halfway to refuel.<\/p>\n<p>Zapata has employed the same \u201cmicro-turbo-jet engines\u201d from his Flyboard on the JetRacer. Though they\u2019re relatively small, the engines pack a punch, perhaps because there are 10 of them. The vehicle can reportedly reach speeds up to 250 kilometers per hour (that\u2019s 155 miles per hour), and an altitude of 3,000 meters\/9,800 feet.
